Features and Benefits
- The Equa 2 chair features the patented Equa shell, a single piece of
fiberglass-reinforced polyester resin designed for dynamic sitting.
- An H-shaped cutout lets the back and seat flex separately, so the chair
moves naturally with the user and provides good lower back support for every
work posture. The H-shaped cutout also lets air circulate, preventing heat
buildup during long-term sitting.
- The shell is manufactured in an environmentally safe way, with integral
color and durable materials for a long, hard-working life.
- To fit a broad range of people, the Equa 2 work chair comes in three shell
sizes A, B, and C, so everyone, from smaller and lighter to taller and heavier
men and women, can have uncompromised comfort and support.
- An optional tilt-lock feature secures the work chair in an upright
position for work-intensive postures. Equa 2 stools, unlike most stools, also
have a tilt option.
- People can easily adjust the arms of the Equa 2 chair to suit their size
and activity. Each arm adjusts vertically in a 4-inch range and laterally up
to 3/4 inch.
- The pneumatic adjustment provides generous seat height ranges to
accommodate shorter and taller workers--and everyone in between.
- The A and B-size chairs lower to 15 1/2 inches, and the C-size rises to 22
1/2 inches. The knee-tilt mechanism facilitates natural body movement between
work postures, from upright to reclined.
- The Equa 2 chair's armrests pivot up to 25 degrees to give computer users
comfortable and healthful forearm support while keyboarding and mousing.
- A warm, slightly textured finish on the aluminum base and frame doesn't
show scuffs and scrapes, and adds an understated touch of elegance that blends
with a range of office interiors.

Design Story
The Equa 2 chair was designed by Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick to give
everyone--regardless of status, work style, or physical shape--the comfort and
support that only come with superior ergonomic design.
Offered in three sizes, the Equa 2 chair accommodates the wide variety of people
in today's diverse working population. While most office chairs are designed
only for "average-sized" people, the Equa 2 chair gives men and women, whether
they're average or not, an exact fit.
The distinctive design of the original Equa models is preserved and refreshed in
the Equa 2 chair. The trademark contours and softly rounded edges form a
clean-cut, flowing profile. A warm, slightly textured finish on the aluminum
base and frame adds an understated touch of elegance-and doesn't show scuffs and
scrapes. This refined Equa 2 look blends with all kinds of office environments.
Enriched ergonomics provide any user with healthful comfort. The adjustable
lumbar support, extensive seat-height range, and fully adjustable arms let the
Equa 2 chair give equal support for every working posture. Whether it's long
hours at the VDT, a quick phone conversation, or a casual staff meeting, the
Equa 2 chair adapts, delivering consistently exceptional performance. Its
adjustments, combined with a shell that flexes responsively, make all positions
natural in the Equa 2 chair.
The processes and materials used in the manufacture of the Equa 2 chair support
Herman Miller's commitment to preserving the environment. They also make
possible the look that has distinguished the Equa chair since it was first
introduced. Now, with a freshened yet kindred appearance, the Equa 2 chair
blends well with existing Equa seating. |
